No entanto, o que \u00e9 <strong>radia\u00e7\u00e3o eletromagn\u00e9tica<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Radia\u00e7\u00e3o eletromagn\u00e9tica<\/strong> \u00e9 a defini\u00e7\u00e3o dada \u00e0 ondas que se propagam no v\u00e1cuo ou no ar com velocidade de 300.000 km\/s, que tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 a velocidade com a qual a luz se propaga (a luz tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 uma <strong>radia\u00e7\u00e3o eletromagn\u00e9tica<\/strong>). Uma outra caracter\u00edstica das ondas eletromagn\u00e9ticas \u00e9 a capacidade de transportar energia e informa\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>Existem v\u00e1rios tipos de radia\u00e7\u00e3o eletromagn\u00e9tica, com semelhan\u00e7as entre si e tamb\u00e9m caracter\u00edsticas diferentes.<\/p>\n<p>O que diferencia uma radia\u00e7\u00e3o eletromagn\u00e9tica de\u00a0outra radia\u00e7\u00e3o eletromagn\u00e9tica \u00e9 o seu comprimento de onda. Mas o que \u00e9 comprimento de onda?<\/p>\n<p>Comprimento de onda (\u03bb) \u00e9 a dist\u00e2ncia entre dois pontos m\u00e1ximos de uma onda, observe:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.quiprocura.net\/infraferro\/radeletro_arquivos\/image001.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"126\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>O comprimento de onda (\u03bb) de uma <strong>onda eletromagn\u00e9tica<\/strong>\u00a0(radia\u00e7\u00e3o eletromagn\u00e9tica) \u00e9 o que ir\u00e1 diferenci\u00e1-las. Existem ondas eletromagn\u00e9ticas com grandes comprimentos de onda, tais como as ondas de r\u00e1dio (AM e FM) e TV (UHF e VHF). Por outro lado, existem radia\u00e7\u00f5es com comprimento de onda bem pequeno, como \u00e9 o caso da radia\u00e7\u00e3o-X e radia\u00e7\u00e3o \u03b3 (<a href=\"https:\/\/quiprocura.net\/w\/2019\/06\/11\/radiacao-nuclear-o-que-e\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">radia\u00e7\u00e3o gama<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>O fato do comprimento de onda ser grande ou pequeno influi diretamente em sua frequ\u00eancia (\u03bd), que \u00e9 a varia\u00e7\u00e3o da onda por segundo, ou seja, \u00e9 a rapidez com a qual a onda se propaga (\u00e9 a rapidez com que os comprimentos de onda se repetem). Quanto menor for o comprimento de onda (\u03bb), maior ser\u00e1 a frequ\u00eancia (\u03bd) e, quanto maior for o comprimento de onda (\u03bb), menor ser\u00e1 a frequ\u00eancia (\u03bd), j\u00e1 que a velocidade da radia\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 a mesma (300 000 km\/s = c = velocidade da luz).<\/p>\n<p>Essa rela\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser observada a partir da equa\u00e7\u00e3o:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u03bd = c \/ \u03bb<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.quiprocura.net\/infraferro\/radeletro_arquivos\/image002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"119\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre o comprimento de onda e a frequ\u00eancia pode ser tamb\u00e9m observada a partir do espectro eletromagn\u00e9tico, que mostra o crescimento da frequ\u00eancia e a diminui\u00e7\u00e3o do comprimento de onda. A medida em que a frequ\u00eancia da onda aumenta, aumenta tamb\u00e9m a sua energia, ent\u00e3o a radia\u00e7\u00e3o gama \u00e9 mais energ\u00e9tica que a radia\u00e7\u00e3o AM, por exemplo.<\/p>\n<p>Observando o espectro eletromagn\u00e9tico, quanto mais a esquerda estiver a radia\u00e7\u00e3o eletromagn\u00e9tica, maior ser a frequ\u00eancia da radia\u00e7\u00e3o e maior ser a energia transportada por ela. Se duas radia\u00e7\u00f5es eletromagn\u00e9ticas interagem com a mat\u00e9ria, o efeito ser\u00e1 diferente.
