Assim , cada uma dessas <strong>desintegra\u00e7\u00f5es radioativas<\/strong> representa a transmuta\u00e7\u00e3o de um elemento em outro. <i>(Transmuta\u00e7\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m pode ser efetuada artificialmente).<\/i><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Transmuta\u00e7\u00e3o<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Em 1919, <strong>Rutherford<\/strong> bombardeou nitrog\u00eanio-14 com part\u00edculas alfa obtidas da <strong>desintegra\u00e7\u00e3o radioativa<\/strong> do r\u00e1dio. O resultado dessa experi\u00eancia foi a obten\u00e7\u00e3o de um novo nucl\u00eddeo (esp\u00e9cie constitu\u00edda de um n\u00ba definido de pr\u00f3tons e de n\u00eautrons, em seu n\u00facleo at\u00f4mico) e de \u00e1tomos de hidrog\u00eanio. Posteriormente, outro cientista, Blackett, demonstrou que o nucl\u00eddeo era o oxig\u00eanio-17.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.quiprocura.net\/Image1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"296\" height=\"45\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Part\u00edcula alfa<\/strong>(<span style=\"font-family: Symbol;\">\u00b5<\/span> ) ou n\u00facleo de \u00e1tomo de h\u00e9lio \u00e9 o mesmo, da\u00ed o uso do h\u00e9lio no lugar da part\u00edcula alfa.<\/p>\n<p>Nessa rea\u00e7\u00e3o existe um <strong>nucl\u00eddeo<\/strong> intermedi\u00e1rio inst\u00e1vel, que \u00e9 um n\u00facleo de fl\u00faor inst\u00e1vel que se desintegra com uma meia-vida de menos de 10<sup>-12<\/sup> s e sua desintegra\u00e7\u00e3o ocorre por <strong>emiss\u00e3o<\/strong> de um <strong>pr\u00f3ton<\/strong>, dando origem ao oxig\u00eanio-17 est\u00e1vel e o pr\u00f3ton da rea\u00e7\u00e3o anterior.<\/p>\n<p>Em muitos casos, o produto de uma rea\u00e7\u00e3o de <strong>bombardeio nuclear<\/strong> \u00e9 inst\u00e1vel e produz subsequente desintegra\u00e7\u00e3o radioativa. Por exemplo, quando o n\u00facleo de cobalto 59 \u00e9 bombardeado com um n\u00eautron de alta energia, \u00e9 formado <strong>cobalto 60<\/strong> que \u00e9 pouco est\u00e1vel, sendo esse transformado em mangan\u00eas 56 mais He.
