Em 1887, ele prop\u00f5e a teoria de dissocia\u00e7\u00e3o i\u00f4nica, a qual dizia, que determinadas subst\u00e2ncias, quando dissolvidas em \u00e1gua, davam origem <span class=\"GramE\">\u00e0<\/span> \u00edons positivos e negativos.<\/p>\n<p>As experi\u00eancias \u00e0s quais <strong><span class=\"SpellE\">Arrhenius<\/span> <\/strong>se <span class=\"GramE\">fundamentou,<\/span> se baseavam em condutividade el\u00e9trica em solu\u00e7\u00f5es aquosas.<\/p>\n<p>Tendo estes conceitos de dissocia\u00e7\u00e3o em mente, <strong><span class=\"SpellE\">Arrhenius<\/span> <\/strong>definiu um <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>\u00e1cido como sendo um composto, que ioniza em \u00e1gua e libera \u00edons H<\/em><\/span><em><sup>+<\/sup><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>H<sub>2<\/sub>SO<sub>4<\/sub>(l)\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"_x0000_i1027\" src=\"http:\/\/www.quiprocura.net\/acido_arquivos\/seta.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"89\" height=\"27\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0 2H<sup>+<\/sup><span class=\"GramE\">(<\/span><span class=\"SpellE\">aq<\/span>)\u00a0\u00a0 +\u00a0\u00a0 SO<sub>4<\/sub><sup>2-<\/sup>(<span class=\"SpellE\">aq<\/span>)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><em>Ioniza\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 diferente de dissocia\u00e7\u00e3o i\u00f4nica. Dissocia\u00e7\u00e3o i\u00f4nica ocorre quando um composto j\u00e1 possui \u00edons, mas est\u00e1 juntos por liga\u00e7\u00f5es i\u00f4nicas. Neste caso de dissocia\u00e7\u00e3o, o composto tende a separar os \u00edons, principalmente em solu\u00e7\u00e3o aquosa.
